He said, "You know these wineries make an enormous profit off the backs of your people?" "What are you going to do about it?" From that moment on, every time I set foot in a vineyard, sold a bottle of wine, or stood at yet another funeral, his question echoed in my mind. I couldn’t escape it. Writing became my way of searching for the answers—one story, one memory at a time.
